“Tomorrow Is Being Murdered in Ubaha”: Mandate 27 Tackles Aguocha Over Abandoned Primary School

A Sitting Reps Member Watches Basic Education Die in His Own Ohuhu

Orie ndu Community Primary School, Ubaha, Oriendu Ohuhu, has been deserted.

Not closed for a holiday. Deserted. Decapitated. Its roof has been blown off, walls are cracked, blocks have fallen, blackboards are dead, pupils have been scattered to farms, and teachers have been posted and reposted to nowhere.

This school is not in Ariam Alala in Ikwuano, far away. This school is in Hon. Obi Aguocha’s Ohuhu domain. In Oriendu Ohuhu — his home. Under his nose.

If a sitting Reps member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency cannot, through federal legislative intervention, UBEC, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Ecological Fund, or constituency intervention, call for the rehabilitation of a basic primary school in his own Ohuhu clan, one wonders what would happen to such facilities in Ariam Alala in Ikwuano or in Old Umuahia.

This is murder of tomorrow.

A primary school is not just a building. It is tomorrow. When you allow Oriendu Community Primary School, Ubaha, to die, you deliberately murder tomorrow. You murder the child who could have become a doctor because he had no classroom. You murder the girl who could have become an engineer because rain drove her away from school.

And the man whose job is to attract federal presence — federal presence that built the Federal College of Education, Ofeme, in the same Ohuhu — cannot attract one block of classrooms to Ubaha?

What a representation. What a love for Ohuhu.

Aguocha tells us on Rapid FM: “I won’t give constituents what I can’t give my children.” Sir, would you give your children Oriendu Community Primary School in its present decapitated state? Would your children sit under a school with no roof in Ubaha?

He tells us about 700 scholarships in tertiary institutions. Good. But who will qualify for tertiary education when primary education is dead? Scholarship without primary school is like building a roof without a foundation. It will collapse.

He carries out inspections at Amaeke Ibeku and Ofeke Ibeku for the cameras. But Oriendu Community Primary School, Ubaha, Oriendu Ohuhu — no inspection. No motion. No picture. Because it does not trend.

The melancholy of Ohuhu is becoming difficult to ignore.

Umuakam Nkwoegwu has no light, no road. Umunemeze Nkwoegwu has no light. The Federal College of Education, Ofeme, road is impassable. Now, Oriendu Community Primary School, Ubaha, is deserted.

All in Ohuhu. All in the Honourable’s domain.

If Ohuhu is like this under an Ohuhu son, what is Ikwuano? If Oriendu’s classroom is decapitated, what is Ariam Alala? If the children of Ubaha have no school, what will the children of Old Umuahia have?

Federal legislative intervention is simple: write UBEC. Capture Oriendu in the budget. Use a federal constituency project to rebuild it. Call NDDC. Call SEDC. One classroom block. Six classrooms. Toilets. A fence. That is representation.

But no. Representation is speech in Atlanta about Igbo Renaissance while the renaissance in Ubaha is dead.

Ndi Ohuhu are not asking for big grammar. Ndi Oriendu Ohuhu are asking: rebuild Oriendu Community Primary School, Ubaha. Let our children return to the classroom.

When a lawmaker cannot save a primary school in his own village cluster, he has lost the moral right to ask for a second term to save the Federal Constituency.

Tomorrow is being murdered in Ubaha, while the Representative is busyboding in Ofeke Ibeku.

Who will save tomorrow?

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is the answer come 2027.
