Breaking! Tinubu Approves Ibom Deep Seaport, Promises Development
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the approval of the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport project, promising economic growth, infrastructure development and job opportunities for Akwa Ibom State.
Tinubu announced on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Uyo, where he urged residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and support his re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The President promised a better future for Nigerians through improved education, skills development, employment opportunities and infrastructure.
He also took a swipe at the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, over his handling of erosion challenges in Anambra State, contrasting it with his administration’s intervention against ocean encroachment in Lagos.
Speaking on the Ibom Deep Seaport project, Tinubu declared that its approval would bring significant economic benefits and accelerate development in Akwa Ibom.
Earlier, Governor Umo Bassey Eno had appealed to the President to ensure the delivery of the seaport project, describing it as an opportunity for Tinubu to write his name in gold in the state’s history.
Also speaking at the rally, Vice President Kashim Shettima criticised Peter Obi, claiming that the former Anambra governor had squandered his political goodwill and no longer generated excitement with his public statements.
Shettima also mocked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his comments on insecurity during his campaign flag-off in Sokoto, questioning how he was able to travel by road to Birnin Kebbi without incident.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects, declaring that Akwa Ibom State would deliver two million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
