The Lagos State government has begun the removal of distressed structures in Lagos Island, Mushin, and other areas across the State as part of efforts to control building collapse and prevent avoidable loss of properties and lives.

A statement by the State government on Tuesday compelled the occupants of the building to move to safer buildings and avoid being trapped in the bubble.
It revealed that the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA, had earlier marked the buildings unfit for habitation, and the occupants were expected to have vacated the affected buildings for their safety.

It further read, “The affected buildings include units of three and four flats in Oke-Arin and Doherty Streets of Lagos Island and four-floor one-unit residential buildings in Idi Araba areas of the State, among others.”
The buildings were discovered during a recent routine monitoring for compliance exercise of the Enforcement Unit of the Authority.
