Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, Other Opposition Leaders Protest INEC’s Non-Recognition of David Mark-Led Leadership
A coalition of prominent political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Wednesday led a protest challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its refusal to recognise the party’s leadership led by David Mark.

The protest tagged “Save Democracy in Nigeria,” drew attention from Nigerians. The leaders were seen holding banners with inscriptions: “Tinubu, let our democracy breathe,” “Tinubu, why are you afraid?”
The demonstration comes amid growing tensions within the ADC over leadership disputes, with supporters of the David Mark-led faction insisting that INEC’s stance undermines internal party democracy and broader democratic principles in the country.
Addressing supporters at the gathering, several of the leaders expressed concern about what they described as increasing threats to democratic institutions. They called on INEC to remain impartial and uphold the rule of law in its dealings with political parties.
As of the time of reporting, INEC has not issued an official response to the protest or the demands raised by the ADC faction.
