Stigmatization has been identified as the singular major reason why people are scared of knowing their HIV status.

Stigmatization has been identified as the singular major reason why people are scared of knowing their HIV status.
The fear of testing positive and the attendant treatment from the public has discouraged people from voluntarily going for testing and perhaps counselling.
For this reason, a lot of people who would have lived their normal lives if they had discovered early enough that they are HIV positive have died because the Virus has taken a toll on their immune system.
It is therefore imperative for our society to understand that HIV/AIDS just like every other ailment can be treated and people who test positive can still live their normal lives.
It is also pertinent for the public to know that though there is no cure yet for HIV, that a lot of research and progress has been made towards finding a cure for the Virus.
There is an urgent need for our people to unite and stamp out all HIV related stigmatization because, without it, the campaign against the Virus would not achieve iitspa purpose.
The book SURMOUNTING STIGMATIZATION IN THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HIV/AIDS written by Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo a UNICEF certified Peers Educators Trainer, with a Foreword by the Wife of Abia State Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu deals extensively on the concept of stigma, the root causes and the role individuals, churches, institutions can play to end it in other to win the war against the pandemic.
The book will be presented to the public on 2nd October 2019 at Okpara auditorium by 11 am.
