COVID-19: Police Seize Vehicle, Insists 20k Bail

A man has lamented after some policemen arrested him while going to get groceries and insisted he pays N20,000 to bail his car.

He called them out on his social media page and narrated how the incident happened.

This goes contrary to what the Federal Government says that vehicles who are carrying foodstuffs or who wants to get foodstuffs will be allowed to pass.

Read what he wrote, “So this morning @prince_gmx left Gbaga ikorodu to pick food stuff at Gberigbe Ikorodu and on his way this police men from Imowo nla police post Ikorodu with their pictures above accosted him and took the car to their station. It was only him in the car. Now they are asking for 20,000 naira to release the car…”

“I thought citizens were allowed to get food stuffs during the lockdown according to the guidelines issued by the federal and state government please we need @tundeednut @nigeriapoliceforce @opetodolapo @instablog9ja @lagosstategovt @toluoluwo to help stop this people from extorting the citizens it’s already hard enough that we all have to shit down our businesses and stay at home!!!! Pls help repost until the authorities see this!!!!!”

Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the State Governments have locked down some states in order to curtail the spread of the virus in the country.

So far 210 has been confirmed to be carrying the virus while 2 deaths have been recorded.
