The Abia State Government has uncovered plans by disgruntled politicians to sponsor hoodlums to attack security agents enforcing the lockdown directive with a view to causing the crisis and exposing our state to the risk of COVID-19 infection.

This was made known by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, PhD who told this to journalists.
He further stated that all security agencies in the state have been alerted to these plots which were also previously attempted in some neighbouring states but failed. We wish to assure citizens and residents of the state alike that this orchestrated attempt to distract the Government of Abia State from focusing on the protection of our people from the COVID-19 pandemic will surely fail.

While we thank law-abiding citizens for observing the medically advised lockdown regulations, we assure all that no effort will be spared in ensuring that this state is protected from COVID-19 and that any possibly infected person is managed back to good health.
All those involved in this dastardly plot are advised in their own interest to desist from it or face the full weight of the law.
