UCL Modern Ceramics: Committee calls for submission of Memoranda

SUBMISSION OF MEMORANDA

Sequel to the inauguration of a Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the activities of UCL Modern Ceramics Umuahia, by His Excellency, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PHD, the Executive Governor of Abia State, on Friday, May 15th, 2020 with the following Terms of Reference:

(a) To review the Loan facility from Diamond Bank, Bank of Industry (BOI) and NEXIM Bank obtained through Mr. Pascal Dozie, former MD, Diamond Bank, for UCL Modern Ceramics,Umuahia;
(b) To ascertain UCL total investment in Modern Ceramics Industry;

(c) To ascertain the role of Board of UCL Modern Ceramics between 2006 till date;
(d) To ascertain terms of Agreement between Abia State Government and UCL Modern Ceramics Umuahia;

(e) To review on-going litigations involving the Banks, natives of Afaraukwu – host community;
(f) To ascertain those expressing interest to buy UCL Modern Ceramics Umuahia;
(g) Any other matter incidental thereof;

The Panel therefore calls for the submission of Memoranda from the Public and critical Stakeholders.

This is aimed at helping the Panel arrive at veritable conclusions.
Amongst others, the following organizations and individuals are requested to submit memoranda to the Panel
1. Ministry of Lands survey and Urban Renewal.
2. Ministry of Industry
3. Ministry of Trade and Investment
4. Ministry of Justice
5. Abia State Planning Commission
6. Access (Diamond) Bank.
7. NEXIM Bank
8. Bank of Industry
9. Afaraukwu Community
10. The Board, UCL Modern Ceramics
11. Pascal Dozie
12. The Public/Stakeholders.

Such memoranda which shall be produced in six (6) hard copies and one soft copy should reach the Secretariat of the Panel, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Pensions, Office of the Head of Service, Umuahia on or before the close of work on Monday June152020. The Panel shall also hold a public sitting for oral presentation for those wishing to do so on a date to be announced later.
