According to a source identified as John Edet, a student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic said the incident occurred in Ikot Akpa Inyang in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, on Friday.

It was gathered that the incident was discovered by the deceased business partner with whom the deceased traded petty goods.

Reports say, after several knocks on the door without a response, the visitor proceeded into the room, only to be greeted with the rude shock.

John stated that Policemen from Ikot Ekpene station quickly arrived at the scene and apprehended the daughter who was made to carry the dismembered corpse of her mother.

An alarm was raised and the suspect was allegedly caught asking people to buy ‘cow’ meat not far from her house. She was bundled to the scene of the crime where it was discovered, a bowl containing body parts of the deceased.

The eyewitness added that the suspect was interrogated briefly by the police, however, she refused to utter any word. He said that the suspect was beaten by the villagers before the arrival of the policemen as she had some bruises on her face.

“She has not said anything to the police, not even her name. But the neighbours know her. She is just looking at people and acting as if she is not aware of what she has done,” Edet said.

“Some people said she cooked parts of her mother’s body and ate, but I did not enter the house to confirm because by the time I arrived there the police had sealed off the house.”
