Governor Eno Pledges Support for Families of Fallen Heroes at 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day
Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of families of fallen Nigerian service personnel, announcing plans to build 150 lock-up stores supported with start-up grants for widows of fallen heroes.

The governor made the pledge during the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day on Thursday, where he described the initiative as a sustainable means of livelihood for the wives of deceased military personnel.
“We will build 150 lock-up stores, supported with start-up grants, to provide a more sustainable source of livelihood for the wives of our fallen heroes,” Governor Eno said in his address.
Governor Eno also released pigeons as a symbol of peace and signed the condolence register in honour of fallen officers and men of the Armed Forces. He also laid wreaths in solemn remembrance of those who paid the supreme price in the defence of Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty.
Governor Eno used the occasion to call on citizens to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and peace, noting that the sacrifices of fallen heroes should continue to inspire collective responsibility toward nation-building.
