50% Electricity Tariff: Keyamo Reveals ‘Hike’ Details
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has wielded in on the electricity tariff stating that there was an adjustment to the bands but there was no increase.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has wielded in on the electricity tariff stating that there was an adjustment to the bands but there was no increase.

Speaking at the Channels Television Network on Tuesday, Festus who was among the committee set up to review the power issues with the different discos stated that the rumour of an increase of electricity tariff was false.
He said, ‘I’m the Chairman of the subcommittee for Federal Government for side and labour that has been mandated to go round the country to interact with stakeholders, discos to find an acceptable cost-effective tariff that should be paid by a Nigerian.
We are still in the process of carrying out our assignment and we are not finished. When I saw the news this morning, I called other committee members and they said it’s not correct. There has been no increase in tariff, what we agreed to do is to freeze different bands which means that persons who are supposed to be on a band are not wrongly put in other bands. So what was done was an adjustment in certain bands but there has not been an increase in the tariff.”
Countering Kayamo, popular influencer Bimbo Cash revealed in a tweet that the tariff has surely been increased as she paid a higher amount to what she usually pays.
She wrote, ‘This is evil. I just paid tonight and my unit reduced. The tariff has increased, I can confirm this. @fkeyamo stop this, please.’
Many Nigerians have continued to protest the tariff even as the Federal Government denied any increment on the tariff.
