Police Nabs 16 Illegal Revenue Collectors in Onitsha

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 16 illegal revenue collectors in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Recall thag the State Government cancelled illegal roadside collection of revenue in the State following their illegal activities which caused the loss of lives.

Police Operatives attached to the Area Command Onitsha and Okpoko Division led by the Area Commander Onitsha, ACP John Ogbuagbaka had on Monday while on patrol along Head bridge, upper iweka and Owerri road all in Onitsha arrested (16) illegal revenue collectors under the false pretence of being government revenue agents in the State.

According to the Police Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, ‘the operation complied with recent directives by the Anambra State Government banning all forms of illegal revenue collections by persons claiming to be State revenue agents or officials.’

The police command also disclosed that the suspects will be brought to book as soon as investigation is concluded and warmed that anyone found in such acts will face the wrath of the law.

‘The Command will continue to pursue the hoodlums until they refrain from criminal activities or relocate from the State.’
