Police Arrest Child Traffickers, Rapist, Others

The Anambra State Police Command have paraded suspected child traffickers, four robbery suspects, two rapists and a murder suspect.

According to the Police Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, the police recorded that police operative attached to Ihiala Division arrested two suspects on 23rd of January, 2021 who allegedly stole a three-year-old who was later rescued in Imo State and reunited the child with his family.

Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed that they usually lure their victims include within the markets, Churches and Schools premises where the children play using sweets or biscuits and take them to one Mrs Malvina Uju Uba who buy the children between the sum of one hundred to five hundred thousand nairas only.

Subsequently, the house of the principal of the stolen children was raided on the 26th of January 2021 by police operatives attached to the SIB and Area Command, Oraifite, while in an operation led by the Area Commander, ACP Afolabi Wilfred.

The suspect, two pregnant teenage girls, five newly born babies and three other children were rescued at the house located opposite Nnamdi Azikiwe Orthopedic Teaching Hospital Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.

The command revealed that the rescued children were handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children’s and Women’s Affairs for proper care, while the investigation is ongoing after which both the Principal suspect and her accomplices will be charged to court for prosecution.

The Command also paraded Four robbery suspects, including the ones who recently robbed a POS agent at Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, Car snatching syndicate who robbed a man of his shuttle bus at bridgehead Onitsha, and a notorious robbery suspect who specialise in snatching women handbags and handsets at Dike park Awka.

Items recovered from the suspects include one barrel pistol, one fabricated pistol and two life ammunition of .9mm.

Other Suspects paraded includes two suspected rapists and one murder suspect who allegedly killed his wife and Son over what he described as influence of Indian hemp. All cases are under investigations after which suspect would be brought to justice.
