‘Thursday, I paid a working visit to the Eziukwu-Cemetery Road project in Aba which is one of the numerous roads we are constructing in our drive towards the massive infrastructural development of Abia State. While at the site, I assured the people of Aba that there is no going back on the total recovery of the Eziukwu-Cemetery Road which has been abandoned for close to three decades.

I reiterated that the resolve of my administration to rewrite the history of infrastructure in Aba is fully on course.

Our target is to push the project to terminate at the Cemetery Market Aba because of the critical role played by the market in the economy of Aba in particular and Abia State in general.

I also directed the contractor to continue to ensure that all laid down specifications in the design of the project are strictly adhered to.

My visit to the project site had the added advantage of making me see and assess the situation for myself. I have therefore asked the contractor to expand the scope of the project to include the fixing of all adjoining junctions abut Eziukwu Road, including junctions like Market Road, Cameroon Road, Ehi Road, etc, assuring that government will be willing to accommodate variations in the contract for these additions.

Seeing that the rains will soon set in, I gave a marching order to the contractor to hasten up and deliver the project within 5 weeks to avoid the impending rains especially as that location remains the lowest point in terms of topography!

Also, following the completion of Phase 2 of the Eziukwu Road project, I have directed that the completed phase be opened for use by the public immediately.

I gave this directive while inspecting Phase 3 of the project which covers from the Azikiwe Road Junction to Cemetery Market.

By this directive, the part of the road from No 1, Okigwe Rd through Ama Ogbonna to No 1, Azikiwe Rd can now be used by the public. People of Aba can now fully enjoy the newly rebuilt Osusu Rd as it now easily links to Eziukwu Rd through Ama Ogbonna.’
