The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has redeemed his pledge to artists who performed during Singer Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burnaboy’s homecoming on Saturday, 27th of March, 2021.

At the event, Gov. Wike pledged N10m to all the artists who performed at the celebration organised by the Rivers State Government.
Burnaboy won the Best Global Music Album category with his Twice As Tall album at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

Wike said: “Those of you who have come to play, whatever you have agreed with the ministry of culture and tourism is not my business.

“All of you that have come today and the Niger Delta people that have come to play today to show the talent you have, I’m very proud of you. All of you will go home with N10million each,” he added to loud cheers from the audience.
Following the criticism over the pledge made by the Governor amidst allegedly owing teachers a 5-year salary, he redeemed the pledge on Wednesday according to a statement made available by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
