The leadership of Jama’atu Nasril Islam under the Sultan of Sokoto, his Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has stated that the smear campaign against the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami had been taken too far.

A statement made available on Wednesday by the Secretary General of JNI, Sheikh Aliyu Abubakar, revealed that Pantami was not in the leadership of JNI and could not have chaired it’s meeting.

A document published by People’s Gazette discussed that Pantami chaired the meeting which plotted the killing of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Patrick Yakowa.

The document surfaced following the criticism on Pantami’s extremism in the past which led to the alleged killing of a student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Sunday Achi in 2004.

JNI condemned the ‘unprofessionally prepared cunning but futile attempt’ to smear the good name of Pantami stating that it was politically motivated.
JNI further frowned at the attempt to project Islam and Muslim in a bad light warning that the agents of darkness will never succeed in it’s campaign.
Recall that the Presidency, amidst public outcry, defended Dr Isa Pantami stating that he made the comments as a youth and have since repented from it.
