Breaking News: Obaseki Calls for NDDC Restructuring

To drive development, the South-South Peoples Democratic Party has called for restructuring of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

This was made known by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki in a series of tweet on Wednesday.

Governor Obaseki made it clear that there are a lot of pretenders in the region who looks for ways to exploit the people and therefore, called on the people to defend itself economically, politically and security wise.

He revealed that the NDDC cannot do any work in Edo State or the other South-South States, rather, it uses resources from the region to develop other regions in the country stating that such was unacceptable.

Obaseki calls for NDDC restructuring

During a meeting with the South-South Zone Working Committee of Peoples Democratic Party, I reiterated the call for the restructuring of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to drive the development of the South-South region.

In the South-South, we must stand up to defend ourselves economically, politically and security-wise. We have pretenders in the region who try to exploit the region and we must stop them.

What is going on in NDDC today is totally untenable. NDDC can’t do any work in Edo and other states in the South-South. You can’t use the resources meant for the region to develop other regions of the country.

The federal government seems not to care about the scandals associated with NDDC. We have enough money in the region to build infrastructure and revive the economy. We can do it ourselves by stopping the interference.”
