Soldiers Allegedly Set Businesses, Properties in Owaza Community Ablaze
A group of soldiers attached to the 144 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has been accused of allegedly setting some houses, business places and Owaza community in Ukwa West LGA in Abia State ablaze following an altercation on Wednesday morning.
A group of soldiers attached to the 144 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has been accused of allegedly setting some houses, business places and Owaza community in Ukwa West LGA in Abia State ablaze following an altercation on Wednesday morning.

It was gathered that yet-to-be identified men allegedly killed some soldiers between the boundaries of Obibor Obuzor and Umuagalaba Owaza all in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday and as retaliation, the soldiers set the community ablaze.

Currently, the community is deserted as people have abandoned their homes over the actions of the soldiers within the area.

According to an eyewitness identified as Obunwa, the military has held all the community around Owaza and Obuzor Asa on siege.
The communities include Owaza – Umudiobia to Obehie, Obuzor through Umuelechi, One man country, Uzuaku, Okohia back to Owaza Road.
