There’s an ongoing riot in Saki, Oke-Ogun Oyo State as residents protest against commercial banks whose Automated Teller Machines, ATM, are dispensing old Naira notes.

Eons Intelligence disclosed that banks around the location have currently shut down operations due to the riot.
It was gathered that the banks who were dispensing old Naira notes refused to accept them from customers. An action that infuriated the customers.
Commercial banks in Lagos, Rivers State, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have started dispensing the old Naira notes following the judgment of the Supreme Court on March 3.
The Apex Court had ruled that the N500 and N1000 notes should be legal tenders till December 31, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has not stated an official statement on the decision of the court.
