The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has thanked Nigerians, particularly the Bende Federal Constituency whom he represents in the green chamber for their unwavering support and trust in re-electing and fostering in him the call to serve the country.
Speaking on Wednesday after his swearing in as the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Kalu recognised the ruling All Progressive Congress for prioritising national cohesion in the new administration.
While pledging to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and transparency as it procure legislative solutions to the pressing issues beguiling our nation, the two time elected member called on fellow members in the House to rise above partisanship but to unite efforts to make a lasting difference in the lives of everyday Nigerians.
His statement reads, ‘It is with utmost humility and a great sense of responsibility that I express my deepest appreciation for this honour to be elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
The call to serve the nation in this capacity is one I am truly grateful for and will forever cherish.
First and foremost, I would like to thank the good people of Bende Federal Constituency who have reposed their trust in me by re-electing me to the House. It is your unwavering support that has brought me to this position today. As I take on this responsibility, I promise to uphold your trust and work tirelessly to fulfil the responsibilities that come with being your Representative, as well as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
The path that has brought us to this present moment has been an arduous and transformative journey, but one that has also afforded us the invaluable opportunity to glean wisdom from various stakeholders across our great nation.
It is therefore important to acknowledge and appreciate the important role played by the leadership of our great party – the All Progressives Congress who have played a key role prioritising national cohesion in the new administration.
I am confident that the inclusive and committed approach of the Executive will be replicated with great success across the other arms of government.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Honourable Speaker Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas for placing his trust in me to carry out this vital role together. I am truly honoured to serve alongside you and the distinguished members of this esteemed House. Your cooperation, wisdom, and support will undoubtedly be invaluable as we navigate the tasks that lie ahead.
I take this opportunity to congratulate all Members inaugurated into the 10th House of Representatives. Together, we will enshrine the principles of democracy, foster an inclusive parliament, and strive to make a positive impact on the lives of our constituents.
As Deputy Speaker, I am fully aware of the weight of the responsibilities entrusted to me. I pledge to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and transparency as we procure legislative solutions to the pressing issues beguiling our nation. I will work with the Honourable Speaker to foster an inclusive and respectful environment within this House, where every voice is heard, and every perspective is valued.
I firmly believe that we are stronger together, and by embracing the diversity of ideas and opinions within this House, we can collectively work towards a brighter future for our great nation. Let us rise above partisanship to unite our efforts and strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of everyday Nigerians.
