Police Arrest Armed Man Prowling Around a Hotel in Awka
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a gunman identified as Akuchieani Echezona prowling around the premises of a popular hotel (name withheld) in Awka, the State capital on the 20th of July 2023.
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a gunman identified as Akuchieani Echezona prowling around the premises of a popular hotel (name withheld) in Awka, the State capital on the 20th of July 2023.
The lone suspect was accosted and a search was done on him and an English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
According to a statement by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer on Sunday, the suspect who is a resident of Ifite Awka was disarmed and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered the State CID Awka to take over the case and investigate the source of the weapon as well as the gunman’s intention for going armed to the hotel.
The suspect is to be arraigned in court after the investigation.
