Following the accident at Waterside Bridge, Ogbor Hill Aba where a 40 feet container truck had a brake failure and crushed a Toyota Sienna car and a Tricycle which killed four persons and injured many, the Abia State Government has restored the restriction of movement of heavy-duty vehicles from 7 am to 8 pm in Aba and Umuahia.

This restriction which was put in place by the past administration led by the former Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu was restored to cushion the effect the trucks leave on the road and protect citizens who ply the roads.
A statement signed by Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication, Mr. Dodoh Okafor assured that the government will take full responsibility for the welfare and medical bills of the injured and will be moved to better facilities for medical treatment.

In a visit by the Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba sympathized with the victims and assured that a task force has been set up to ensure that all container-laden trucks coming into the state meet relevant safety standards and do not constitute a threat to the safety of Abians.
Those found in violation of standard regulations on the management and safety of containers-in-transit shall be made to face the full wrath of the law.
