Buhari’s Confessed Plot to Assassinate Kanu: Lawyer Fumes, Says Trial Unfair

Aloy Ejimakor, Esq., the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said that the self-confessed plot to assassinate Mazi Kanu by former President Muhammadu Buhari shows that the trial was never meant to be fair.

“Buhari’s self-confessed plot to assassinate MAZI NNAMDI KANU underscores the lingering notion that #MNK was never meant to get a fair trial in Nigeria. That’s why they resorted to extraordinary rendition & illegal detention. President Tinubu should wash his hands off.”

He said this after Femi Adesina, the aide to former President Buhari wrote in his book titled ‘Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023),’ which was recently launched in Abuja, that Buhari chose to spare Kanu’s life when his government could have killed him.

Adesina revealed that Buhari said this in a meeting with Igbo leaders in Abuja who had met him for the release of Nnamdi Kanu who was illegally repatriated from Kenya to Nigeria in June 2021.

Aloy, who had been at the forefront of the case between the federal government and Mazi Kanu stated that the presidency led by President Bola Tinubu will be defined by how he handles the case of the IPOB leader.

“For Ndigbo, Tinubu’s presidency will be defined by how he handles the matter of MAZI NNAMDI KANU. Anybody telling Tinubu otherwise is mischievous & nudging the President to a path of bitter political conflict with Ndigbo. Believe it or not, #MNK is one of the pantheons of Ndigbo.”
