Bill for Establishment of FMC in Isiala Ngwa Passes Second Reading

The bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Center in Isiala Ngwa, Abia State has passed a second reading in the House of Representatives on Wednesday’s plenary session.

The bill which was sponsored and presented by the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Honourable Ginger Onwusibe seeks to address quick and accessible medical care to the people of the Constituents and its environs.

During the plenary session, Hon. Onwusibe pointed out that Isiala Ngwa houses a huge population being the ancestral home of the Ngwa nations which forms a constraint in accessing quick Medicare, and opined that if cited in the region, it would provide relief to the people who travel several kilometers to access the only FMC in the State capital, Umuahia.

Hon. Onwusibe stated strongly that quality health care is paramount in the lives of people and made it clear that access to immediate health care will reduce the upsurge in preventable deaths.

He, therefore urged the House to rally behind this bill which will not only fortify our healthcare system but also be an investment in the well-being of our citizens.

Hon. Onwusibe, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes has been an advocate for good governance and also sponsored The Abia State Number Plate Production Authority Bill, 2019 among others during his time as a State lawmaker.
