Police Arrest Married Woman Who Faked Kidnap, Received Ransom

The FCT Police Command have arrested a woman identified as Rosemary Ubah who faked her kidnap and extorted the sum of N2 million from her husband Chiedozie Ubah on the 11th of March 2024.

According to the police, Mr Ubah who lives at Saburi II Dei-dei, Abuja, reported the case of his missing pregnant wife who went to antenatal care but never returned to the Gwa Gwa Division.

He subsequently received a phone call through his wife’s phone number that his wife had been kidnapped and the supposed kidnappers demanded two (2) million naira ransom before her release.

Mr Ubah transferred the money into the account of his wife as instructed by the kidnapper but the victim was brought to the police station after her release.

During interrogation, Mrs. Ubah confessed to conspiring with a man named Walter Ezeala, who lived on the same street as them in Saburi, to extort money from her husband.

Walter was arrested and he confessed that he got eight hundred thousand (N800,000) naira while the supposed victim took one million two hundred thousand naira (N1,200,000).

Meanwhile, ₦793,500 cash, two FCMB ATM cards, and two Android phones were recovered from them.

Suspects will be charged in court soon.
