Obaseki Announces New Minimum Wage for Workers
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced a N70,000 new minimum wage which will take effect from May 1, 2024.

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced a N70,000 new minimum wage which will take effect from May 1, 2024.
He made this known while commissioning a new Labour House in the State on Wednesday.
Despite the growing arguments on the new minimum wage between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Federal government, Governor Obaseki on May 1, 2022, effected an N40,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the State.

Meanwhile, at a meeting summoned by the Office of the Secretary to the Federal Government on Thursday which was attended by the government representatives on the Tripartite committee on new minimum wage only to consider the proposals of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress.
The two major labour centres jointly adopted N615,000 as the new minimum wage despite proposing different amounts earlier.
