We’ve Completed 71 Roads: Chief Emetu Says as NDDC Flags Off Oke-Ikpe-Akwette – Ohambele Road

The Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti has stated that the State has completed 71 roads since the inception of the present administration assuring that the State has cued into the Renewed Hope Initiatives of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was made known by the Deputy Governor Chief Ikechukwu Emetu at the commissioning of Emergency Construction of Obehie-Oke-ikpe Road, Ukwa West LGA, Abia State on May 18, 2024.

Chief Emetu pointed out that accessing the Obehie-Oke-ikpe road during the campaign period in the last election was a tug of war and commended the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC for synergizing with the State Government to ensure dividends of democracy are felt in the community.

Highlighting the lackadaisical attitude people treat public property, Chief Emetu cautioned the people particularly scrap dealers who intentionally vandalise public property to cart away the equipment stating that every Abian has a stake in the public property in the State.

Disclosing measures the government has taken to curb insecurity, the Deputy Governor stated that the top on the agenda of the State Government is to create jobs so it has taken steps towards attracting investors to the State by building infrastructures in the State.

He urged the Traditional rulers in the State to help secure the public utilities in their locality as there’s no growth in chaos and pleaded with the NDDC to intervene and complete all abandoned projects littered all around the State.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor joined the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku to flag off the second phase of the emergency reconstruction of Oke -Ikpe – Akwette – Ohambele road which will ensure a shortened distance from Abia to Akwa Ibom State.

Chief Ogbuku stated that the NDDC plans to make a difference in the region by improving infrastructure and boosting socio-economic activities in the State, he assured the people of prompt completion of the road project which will further add to the growth of the community.

The event which came to a climax with the flag off of the road construction witnessed the presence of Mr Azubuike Nwaubani, NDDC Director, Okeikpe, HRH Eze Chinyere Dike the Ukwa West Traditional Council Chairman, amongst others.
