Orji Kalu Dismisses Abia APC Factions, Says Ononugbo Remains Chairman

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North Senatorial District, has stated that Dr Kingsley Ononugbo remains the Abia State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC dismissing reports of factions in the Party.

“On what happened in Umuahia yesterday is that we have only one Chairman that went through thw electoral process and that is Dr Kingsley Ononugbo.”

Speaking after the APC factional meeting which was called by a Chieftain of the Party and Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Chief Uchechukwu Ogah on Saturday, the Former Governor of Abia State made it clear anybody has the right to call for a meeting of a support group but APC factional group as the party is one in Abia.

“Chief Uche Ogah has the right to call for the meeting of his support group, not the APC meeting. We do not want factions in the party. So I discourage anybody talking about factions in the State. Whether the person was brought by Ikechi Emenike or another, it doesn’t any more sense as a chairman emerged.”

Pointing out that only the party executives have the right to call a meeting of the party, Senator Kalu advised Chieftains of the Party to desist from creating factions in the State which he stated might stifle the growth of the Party.

“The National Executive of the Party told me that he is the Party Chairman in Abia and no other person. Chief Uche Ogah has the right to call a meeting of his support group Abia Rejoice but not APC. APC is one party and Dr Kingsley Ononugbo is the Chairman for now. We must be disciplined and find a way to come together. I wasn’t against the meeting called or against anybody calling the meeting of the support group but against anybody calling the APC factional meeting when there is a man the process brought out as chairman. So please let’s not normalise so we can grow.”

Abia Rejoice which was birthed in 2011 is a political structure of Dr Ogah where he empowers indigent individuals and families.
