Katsina Concerned Citizens Initiate Recall for Representative

The Concerned Citizens of Katsina North Senatorial District have initiated a recall of the Senator Representing Katsina North Senatorial District Ahmad Babba Kaita following his failure to fulfil campaign pledges, compromising the welfare and development of the Constituency.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and signed by its Chairman Zaharaddeen L. Kafin’soli, the Concerned Citizens stated that Section 69 of the Constitution availed electorates the power to recall underperforming representative.

It further added that Senator Kaita, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has violated the trust placed in him by the electorates.

“Additionally, the Senator has blatantly violated the trust we placed in their hands by deviating from the mandate bestowed upon them during their elections. The inability to fulfill the promise made has resulted in disillusionment qnd erosion of faith in the democratic process itself. The breach in trust further exacerbates the urgency for a recall.”

It urged the electoral umpire to conduct a recall as stipulated to pave the way for a more efficient and responsible representative for the Constituency.

It called on INEC to initiate a referendum to determine the collective will of the people to recall the incumbent Senator and give the Constituents a chance for their voices to be heard.
