Police Arrest Four Suspects for Burning Old Woman to Death
Four suspects have been arrested by the Anambra State Police, Abagana Division, in connection with the burning to death of a 74-year-old woman in a wheelchair in Abagana.
Four suspects have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command, Abagana Division, in connection with the burning to death of a 74-year-old woman in a wheelchair in Abagana.

The suspects are 21-year-old Chinenye Ekwenugo from Ifitedunu, 47-year-old Uzochukwu Okeke, 60-year-old Fidel Anayo, and 54-year-old Ikenna Anene, all from Abagana. They were apprehended on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 9 a.m.
Police operatives recovered the charred remains of the deceased, her wheelchair, and a casket. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Chinenye confessed that her boyfriend, Ifeanyi Igwe, who is currently at large, along with three others, set the victim on fire and procured a casket to bury her before the intervention of security forces.

Authorities are also actively working to apprehend Ifeanyi Igwe, the main suspect, who remains in hiding. The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for an autopsy and further investigation into the cause of death.
In response to the incident, Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam urged the public to remain calm and ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
