Umunneochi Mayor Debunks Resignation Rumours, Says Viral Letter Fabricated

Hon. Sunday Afurobi, the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area in Abia State, has dismissed rumours regarding his resignation, branding the circulating letter as a “bogus document” forged by his opponents.

A purported resignation letter addressed to Governor Alex Chioma Otti had been circulating on social media, claiming that the Executive Chairman of Umunneochi had stepped down. However, Mayor Sunday, Afurobi has clarified the situation, assuring the people of Umunneochi that he remains in office.

The fabricated resignation letter, which bore a forged signature of Afurobi, has caused confusion among local government staff and supporters. The Mayor has urged everyone to remain calm, disregard the false information, and continue their support for Governor Otti.

Moreover, the Mayor has announced that his lawyers and security agencies are currently investigating the matter to address this “disturbing situation” and uncover the source of the fake resignation letter.
