Former Super Eagles Captain Jay-Jay Okocha has stated that nobody wants their son to be like James Carragher following the latter’s comment on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

James Carragher questioned the credibility of African football by suggesting that Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or were negatively affected by his failure to win a significant international tournament, such as the European Championship, Copa America, or the World Cup.

Irked, Okocha said that no parent would want their son to play like Carragher looking at his football trajectory.
“There are some players that will say something in football and you will overlook it. You look at their careers and the type of football they have played. I mean you won’t want your son to be like Carragher. He can never appreciate African football or the talents that come from Africa.”
