The Abia State House of Assembly has announced its intention to invite the management of Aba Power Company and the Abia State Commissioner for Power to a session at the Assembly Complex.

This is to address the recent increase in electricity tariffs implemented by Aba Power Company and other electricity providers in Abia State.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa made this announcement on Tuesday following the day’s plenary session. He emphasized that the Assembly will hold those responsible for the tariff hike accountable and will seek explanations and justifications for their actions.

The Speaker assured the public that the Assembly will work diligently to find solutions to the concerns raised by the Aba community, aiming to make electricity bills and supplies more affordable and accessible.
In his statement, he revealed that an investigation has been launched to address this issue, and the House Committee on Power has been tasked with leading the initiative.
He urged the state government to intervene promptly, given the severe impact of rising electricity costs on residents’ livelihoods. The Assembly reassured the people of Aba that it is committed to addressing their concerns regarding the unexpected tariff increase, which has left many struggling to make ends meet.
