A high-profile individual identified as Chief Lawson was abducted by gunmen who attacked his police escort along the Azumini-Ndoki road in the Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday.

Eons intelligence reports indicate that the gunmen shot at his driver before seizing Chief Lawson. The police escort assigned to him included Sergeant Jude Gubi, ASP Tanko Natip, and Inspector Ernest.
The team was returning to Port Harcourt from Arochukwu when they were ambushed around 7:00 p.m. at Mkapjekere Ndoki.

It was reported that the attackers, travelling in a dark blue Sienna, blocked the convoy, which consisted of a black Land Cruiser (registration number KPR 627 TH) and a white Toyota Hilux (registration number YAB 115 CE), and immediately opened fire, prompting the police officers to retaliate.
A source disclosed that the gunmen ordered the VIP to enter their vehicle, but he refused. In response, they shot both him and his driver before abducting them.
Security forces have since intensified their efforts to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the kidnapped victims.
