In a surprising turn of events, the Rivers State House of Assembly denied entry to Governor Siminalayi Fubara as he came to re-present the 2025 budget as ordered by the Supreme Court.

The assembly complex gate was locked and efforts to enter the building was denied by Martin Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers assembly, which is loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

Fubara stated earlier that he would agree to the resolution of the SP which reinstated the 27 lawmakers.
The lawmakers had, last week given 48 hours ultimatum to the Governor to re-present the 2025 Budget and also sacked the local government Chairmen for lack of proper procedures.
