Ebonyi State Governor Nwifuru Suspends LG Chairman, Orders Arrest of Six Commissioners
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended Mr Timothy Nwach, the Council Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, and has ordered the arrest of six commissioners for breaching contract agreements.
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended Mr Timothy Nwach, the Council Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, and has ordered the arrest of six commissioners for breaching contract agreements.
The commissioners involved are: Professor Omari Omaka (Tertiary Education), Victor Chukwu (Environment), Ifeanyi Ogbuewu (Culture and Tourism), Uchenna Igwe (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters), Moses Ekuma (Health), and Felix Igboke (Project Monitoring).
It is alleged that these commissioners and contractors are undermining the governor’s efforts to commission 140 housing units for the Izzo and Amaze communities in celebration of his second anniversary in office.
Furthermore, reports indicate that some of the commissioners and contractors associated with the contract are already evading arrest.
