The trial of three Anambra native doctors accused of various criminal activities, including the preparation of Oke-ite, has been adjourned by the Anambra State High Court.

Presiding over the case, Honourable Justice Jude Obiorah announced the new hearing date for April 11, 2025, to allow for proper service and arraignment of the accused.

The individuals facing the charges are Onyebuchi Okocha (Akwa Okuko), Onyeze Jesus, Chidozie Nwangwu, and Ekene Igboekweze (Eke Hit).

In a statement to the press following the court session, Remigus Okoli, one of the defense counsels, criticized the state government’s attempts to remand the defendants. He emphasized the constitutional and legal rights of the accused, particularly the importance of ensuring that they are given adequate time to prepare their defense and receive proper legal service.

Efforts to reach the state government’s legal team, led by F.C. Okeke, for comment were unsuccessful.
