A 25-year-old man named Nasiru Samaila was arrested on May 19, 2025, by the Anambra State Police Command after authorities received ongoing information about miscreants under the guise of celebrating the Imoka festival becoming unruly and tormenting the lives of residents in the State.

Reports indicate that the suspect attempted to evade arrest by firing indiscriminately but was eventually subdued by the police, who shot him in the right leg.
Unfortunately, one police officer sustained a gunshot injury during the incident and has been taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awka conducted raids on several known hotspots in Awka and its surroundings to combat criminal activities.
During these operations, they recovered a locally made Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, a knife, and a large quantity of a substance suspected to be hard drugs.
Further updates regarding the case will be provided to the public in due course.
