Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Network, Arrest Six Suspects
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have dismantled a major drug trafficking network in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area, arresting six suspects, including a female dealer, and seizing a large cache of dried leaves suspected to be hard drugs along with other incriminating substances.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesperson of the Command on Saturday, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, May 30, 2025, by officers attached to the Special Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector, following credible intelligence.
The arrested suspects include 32-year-old Chinyere Onwuka, 36-year-old John Kennedy Onwuka, 30-year-old Chidiebere Onyeze, 35-year-old Echeazu Nonso, 21-year-old Osita Chukwu Chialuka, and 25-year-old Nnebedum Wisdom.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, condemned the rising trend of drug abuse among youths, describing drugs as “the oxygen that drives most crimes and bad behaviour exhibited by individuals.” He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling illicit drug use through enforcement and public education initiatives.
CP Orutugu also emphasized the importance of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), a youth-centered advocacy initiative designed to sensitize young people on the dangers of drug abuse and related social vices.
The suspects are expected to be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Awka, for further investigation and prosecution.
