Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has addressed a resurfaced viral video in which his daughter made an emotional outburst, alleging she would not be “a sacrifice” like her late mother. The governor dismissed the video as a politically motivated attempt to distract from his administration’s achievements.

In a statement issued during a press briefing, Pastor Eno confirmed the video was recorded shortly after the passing of his wife last year, questioning the timing of its reemergence.
“We are in political times and so you expect more of that. My family is intact and you can see everyone,” he stated. “The event you are talking about happened immediately my wife passed last year, so why is it surfacing now? And why is it on the eve of the second anniversary we are celebrating the milestone we have achieved?”
While standing with his daughter Jane, the governor emphasized the emotional toll the loss had on his children, urging the public to be sensitive to their grief.

“The pressure on the kids when they lose a loved one could be traumatic and we must know that,” he said. “All I can do is appeal to the public not to bring back sad memories. It’s enough that I’ve lost my wife, and I pray they allow her peaceful soul to rest.”
Pastor Eno reiterated his commitment to governance, saying he would not be derailed by politically charged controversies.
“I cannot be distracted. I’ll remain focused and continue to serve the people of Akwa Ibom. I don’t wish what happened to me on anyone else. Those throwing this around, if that’s what they wish for themselves, then I wish them luck.”
He concluded with a call for political decency: “My family is intact. I think even in politics, family should be off limits.”
