Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party has called on Nigerians, especially leaders at all levels, to use the occasion of Eid al-Adha to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, humility, and responsible leadership.

In a message on Friday, Obi joined Muslims across the nation and around the world in celebrating Eid al-Adha, acknowledging its deep spiritual significance and timeless message of faith, obedience, and compassion.
“As our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrate Eid al-Adha, I join them in thanking Almighty Allah for the grace of sacrifice, unity, and peace that this sacred occasion represents,” Obi said.

He described the celebration as a moment for personal and national introspection, calling on Nigerians to embrace the core values that underpin a just and inclusive society, compassion, justice, and shared responsibility, especially toward the most vulnerable.
Obi further urged political leaders to emulate the noble virtues embodied in the spirit of Eid: “May it especially be an opportunity for our leaders at all levels to reflect on the noble virtues of leadership, sacrifice, accountability, humility, and service and apply them becomingly in the discharge of public duty.”
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Sallah celebration, expressing hope that the season would “renew our collective hope, strengthen our unity, and inspire us all to work toward a better, more inclusive Nigeria.”
