Human rights activist and RevolutioNow convener Omoyele Sowore has criticised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, over the ongoing shutdown of public schools for three months and area council offices in Abuja.

In a statement released via his social media handle on Friday, Sowore condemned what he described as the misallocation of resources by the President Bola Tinubu administration, accusing Wike of prioritizing “non-essential projects” over critical public services.

He specifically referenced the Abuja Conference Centre project, which he claimed is consuming billions of naira while essential services like education are neglected.
“All public schools and area councils in the FCT have been shut for three months, leaving teachers unpaid and local government workers abandoned,” Sowore said. “This is not governance, it is a war on the poor and the future.”
Neither the FCT Administration nor Minister Wike has issued an official response to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
