UNIJOS SUG Female President Pwajok Suspended Seven Months After
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) House of Parliament at the University of Jos has suspended the Union’s President, Jane Pwajok, for a period of six weeks following serious allegations of financial misconduct.

According to a statement issued by the Parliament, the suspension was prompted by unauthorised withdrawals from the Union’s account without the knowledge or approval of the Financial Secretary and Treasurer. Additionally, the president is accused of withholding funds without proper disclosure.
Further concerns were raised by the SUG’s Public Relations Officer and Secretary General, who alleged that Pwajok had consistently abused the powers of her office, violating constitutional procedures and undermining transparency.
During a plenary session, 32 out of 42 Senators voted in favour of the suspension, signalling overwhelming support for the disciplinary action. As per the Union’s constitution, the Vice President will serve as Acting President during the six-week suspension period.
In reaffirming its stance, the Parliament emphasised its commitment to accountability, transparency, and good governance within the student body. Students were urged to remain calm and continue supporting the leadership as investigations proceed.
Pwajok has yet to release an official statement regarding the suspension.
Meanwhile, numerous students mentioned that this was not the first time she had been accused of financial misconduct since assuming office last November 2024.
