INEC Chairman Meets RECs to Finalise Key Electoral Preparations
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is currently meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) as the Commission intensifies preparations for several critical electoral activities nationwide.

The high-level meeting, taking place at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, brings together national commissioners and RECs to deliberate on final strategies and logistics ahead of the November 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

Also on the agenda are arrangements for pending bye-elections in various states, operational plans for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, and early preparations for the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Prof. Yakubu emphasised the importance of early planning and coordination to ensure the credibility and efficiency of all upcoming electoral exercises.
INEC will announce detailed timelines and operational guidelines in the coming weeks as preparations intensify nationwide.
