‘Do Not Run Enugu Air Like Nigeria Air’ – Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria, urged the management of Enugu Air to operate the airline professionally and adhere strictly to flight departure times, even if the Governor is a couple of minutes late.

“Do not let Enugu Air meet the same fate as Nigeria Air did. I implore you to run it professionally and ensure that bureaucracy does not hinder Enugu Air’s success. Be punctual in your departures and arrivals. If the Governor is two minutes late, close the door and take off. There will be no free tickets. For the airline to survive, the people of Enugu must support it. The Governor has made this service available; there will be flights from Enugu.”

Speaking at the launch of Enugu Air at Akanu Ibiam International Airport on Monday, the Minister emphasised the need to avoid the mismanagement that characterised Nigeria Air under former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Keyamo praised Governor Peter Mbah for his dedication to progress, which transcends party lines and has been recognised by President Bola Tinubu and others. He commended Mbah’s performance, noting, “You’ve done well for Enugu State and you are one of the best-performing governors in Nigeria.”

He also pledged his support for Enugu Air, committing to not only approving regional operations but also personally assisting in securing aircraft worldwide for the airline.

“We will approve regional operations from Enugu to various African countries, so please submit your requests and we will endorse them. Support the airline; do not ask for free tickets. Be punctual. Do not complain if you miss your flight due to lateness. I will support Enugu Air; I will travel the world with Peter Mbah to seek aircraft to lease. I will personally guarantee efforts to secure aircraft for the operation of Enugu Air.”
