Tragic as Eight Die, Three Injured in Lagos-Badagry Expressway Crash

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday as a fatal road accident along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway claimed the lives of eight people, leaving three others severely injured.

The crash occurred around 5:00 a.m. at the Army Intelligence checkpoint in the Atura area of Morogbo and involved a Mazda commercial bus and a stationary DAF truck loaded with goods.

According to eyewitnesses and preliminary investigations, the bus driven by 59-year-old Solomon Audu lost control and collided at high speed with the parked truck. The impact of the collision was devastating.

Among the deceased were the driver, his conductor identified as Akibu Ogundele, and six other passengers who died at the scene. Three passengers survived with varying degrees of injuries and were promptly taken to Badagry General Hospital by emergency responders.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and other emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation, rescue victims, and restore traffic flow.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Badagry General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Both vehicles involved in the crash have been towed away for further inspection by Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO)
