Former President Muhammadu Buhari Dies After Prolonged Illness
Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has passed away after a prolonged illness. He died this afternoon at a clinic in London, according to a statement released by his family.

Garba Shehu, a close aide and former presidential spokesperson, confirmed the news on behalf of the family, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, was a central figure in Nigerian politics for over four decades.
He had been battling health issues for some time, spending recent months in and out of medical care abroad.
The family has asked for prayers for the repose of his soul, stating: “May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Further details regarding burial arrangements and official tributes are expected to follow.
