Coronation Anniversary: Planning Committee Chairman Mazi Chijioke Says Eze Eberechukwu Oji Has Surpassed Expectations

As the Arochukwu Kingdom prepares to celebrate the first coronation anniversary of His Eminence Eze Eberechukwu Oji, PhD, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mazi Obi Chijioke, has assured that the four-day celebration will reflect the unity, growth, and divine favour that have characterised the monarch’s first year on the throne.

In an interview with Newsleverage ahead of the grand event scheduled for July 26, 2025, Mazi Chijioke revealed that the celebrations are carefully structured to honour His Eminence’s leadership while engaging every segment of the Aro population, both at home and in the diaspora.

“We have a four-day event to commemorate the first year of His Eminence Eze Eberechukwu Oji, PhD, as Eze Aro, which will be celebrated on July 26, 2025. He instructed us, through the Nzuko Aro Worldwide, to set up an event that begins with a crusade and medical outreach to reach the people of Arochukwu Kingdom and its surroundings. On the 25th, we will host the All Aro National Conference. Given the numerous Arochukwu settlements across the South Eastern States, including Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States, we expect a large gathering. We will engage in intellectual discussions to usher in the Aro Renaissance, which His Eminence is spearheading. We will also address Aro-related issues, including those concerning the diaspora. The coronation anniversary proper will take place on the 26th, with all traditional rulers from Abia State and beyond gathering here for the celebration. On the 27th, we will return to God’s presence to offer thanksgiving for all He has done for us and all that He will continue to do in the year ahead. It’s a four-day, fully packed event made possible by the generous support of many sponsors.”

Reflecting on the past year, Mazi Chijioke expressed that His Eminence has exceeded the expectations of UmuAro. “He has surpassed our expectations. The Bible says that when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice. We are deeply grateful to God for bringing us this Eze at this time. He is fostering unity and serving as an advocate and voice for the people, even in government. In Arochukwu, we are experiencing a good problem; we now have so many well-maintained roads that it can be confusing which one to take. Thanks to our good Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, our roads are in excellent condition. You can see the streets of Arochukwu lit up, one of His Eminence’s pet projects. After the All Aro National Conference dinner, we will launch committees focused on development, infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism. His Eminence is driving a new tourism initiative, as we have numerous attractions in the Kingdom, including the 79 steps and Ibiniukpabi. He has contributed significantly, particularly in unifying the Kingdom under one umbrella and introducing a new approach to governance in Arochukwu. Most importantly, our Eze is Godly. God is with us, and we are moving forward.”

He described Eze Eberechukwu Oji as a “Godly monarch” ushering in a new era of purposeful leadership. “Our Eze is redefining governance in Arochukwu. Most importantly, God is with us, and we are progressing,” he said.

Mazi Chijioke also confirmed that the common people are already feeling the positive impact of His Eminence’s leadership.

“Today, during our medical outreach, over 300 individuals were seen starting at 8 a.m. We had pharmacists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals present, not just to diagnose issues but also to find solutions. They distributed glasses and provided other forms of assistance. These are part of the initiatives His Eminence has implemented to uplift the common man. Numerous activities are currently taking place in Arochukwu, with a positive trickle-down effect. Businesses are thriving as the improved lighting allows for operations even at night, generating increased economic activity. As development progresses, new businesses are emerging, attracting more visitors to Arochukwu, which ultimately benefits the common man.”

He emphasised that the ripple effect of development is evident. “The ‘Light Up Aro’ initiative has extended business hours, allowing people to move around safely.”
