Court Discharges Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson
The Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, on Wednesday discharged Comfort Emmanson, the passenger previously accused of unruly behaviour and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.
Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the case following the formal withdrawal of all five charges filed against Emmanson by the Nigerian Police.
The prosecution counsel, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, informed the court of new developments in the matter, including directives from higher authorities and stakeholder consultations.
She submitted a formal application for the withdrawal of the charges, which the court accepted.
The decision follows a public statement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who revealed that the resolution came after careful review of the incident, appeals from concerned citizens, and the expression of remorse by those involved.
