FG Declares Friday, September 5 Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, the government extended warm congratulations to all Muslims in Nigeria and across the world as they mark the occasion.
The statement urged Muslims to reflect on the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion. It also encouraged all Nigerians, regardless of religious affiliation, to use the occasion to pray for the nation’s peace, security, and unity.
The government reiterated its commitment to fostering national development and called on citizens to support its efforts in building a stronger and more united Nigeria.
The Minister of Interior also wished all Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid al-Mawlid celebration.
